Willie Lee Norwood

Born June 15, 1941, in Havana, Florida to Andrew Norwood and Esther Riggins.  He accepted Christ at an early age.  He attended the schools of Gadsden County and graduated in 1961 from Carter-Parramore High School in Qunicy, Florida.  He attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a Bachelors in 1968 and a Masters in 1974.  He was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Lemeldon Black in 1968.  This union was blessed with one child, a daughter, Territcita.

He was an Agriscience educator in Hillsborough County from 1968 to 2003.  During his tenure, he continuously worked with Future Farmers of America's National and local chapters.   He worked with the Police Athletic League of Tampa, Inc. where he was a coach and board member.  While being a member of the Hillsborough County Classroom Teacher Association during his career, he became the first African-American President from 1998 - 2002.  As an educator, he worked closely with the National Education Association, and on the Board of Directors (1992-1996) FTP-NEA.  He retired from teaching in 2003.  He became a Life Member of the FAMU National Alumni Association in 2012.

He leaves to cherish in his fond memories the love of his life of 52 years, Lemeldon Norwood; his daughter, Territcita Norwood; a host of brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
