Mrs. Odessa Smith was born on August 1, 1937 to the late Jeanette and Henry Smith in Live Oak, Florida. She was a devoted employee and supervisor at Jackson Memorial Hospital for 35 years until her retirement.

Mrs. Smith leaves to cherish two children, Kenneth H. (Arlene) Smith and Donnita Joseph; two brothers, Alfred (Taresa) Smith and Lorenzo Smith; three sisters, Elsie Garner, Lucretia Lee, and Naomi (Willie James) Clayton; ight grandchildren, Wesley, Jetonne, Donte, Rolonda, Ta'Peachia, Jevonn, Kerron, and DeMarcus; eighteen great-grandchildren, Dawnisha, Nakayla, Jamauri, Jaii, Jhust, Ky'una, Izaiah, Zoey', Darious, Halle, Kalle, Donte, Kyren, Jcarri, Kamarien, Khalil, Kenyon, and Joy; one great-great-grandchild, Amauri Major; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many loving friends.

She lived by her favorite saying, "God Knows Your Heart," and she had a good heart.

Odessa Smith was also known as "Dessa," "Big Mama," and "Sunshine." Her generosity wasn't limited to anybody. Grace and mercy brought her to 83 years. She was a faithful servant of Christ. She was an active and dedicated member of New Life Baptist Church of Carol City. She loved her church family. Even during her illness, she did not forsake her church duties.
