On April 22, 1940, Carol Wester Galvin, the first of seven children, was born in Havana, Florida to Rufus Wester and Rebecca Mills Reed. Carol's parents and sisters Edna Mae Henderson and Rosa Lee Strawter all preceded her to that Celestial Shore.

A life-long resident of Gadsden County, Carol attended the public schools and graduated from Carter-Parramore in 1959. She soon thereafter married and began her family, becoming the doting mother of three children, all whom she loved unconditionally.

At an early age, Carol confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Rich Bay African Methodist Episcopal Church. She later joined Palace AME Church and remained faithful until her illness. Sister Galvin served on several boards, was a member of numerous organizations including the Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards Committee and received the award for Unsung Hero. She was a member of the Alexander Simpson Bailey Area of the Florida Conference Women's Missionary Society. On June 18, 2022, "Mama Cal" was presented an award during the Freedom Day Ground Ceremony sponsored by The Havana Coalition for change.

She served in the capacity as a Bookkeeper for WFSU-TV (FSU) for most of her adult life. For a short time, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at The Florida Department of Management Services and retired as so. Although "Mama Cal" was not a culinary artist by trade, cooking was her true passion. She was dedicated to mission work and the joy of serving her community and donating to those in need. Sister Galvin was known as the "lady who got things done" and made the best pork chop, fried mullet, and chicken sandwiches in Havana.

Carol leaves to cherish her love and memories as follows: Brothers: Elder Lawrence (Dianne) Reed and Bruce Reed both of Havana, Florida; Sister and devoted caregiver : Janice Reed of Havana, Florida; Children : Carla (Melvin) Wells, Quincy, Florida, Sharon (Jerome) McLin, Lamont, Florida, and Randall (Sophia) Galvin, Miramar, Florida; Grandchildren Whitney (Charles) Smith, Charlotte, North Carolina, Makenzie Lamb, Tallahassee, Florida, Shanice Galvin, Tallahassee, Florida, Owen, Brandon and Matthew Galvin all of Miramar, Florida, Keysa McLin, Miami, Florida, Keysone McLin, Tallahassee, Florida and Jermetris (Leah) McLin of Katy, Texas, Antonio Wells, Quincy, Florida and Terrance Hart of Detroit, Michigan; Great Grandchildren : Chaislyn & Chandler Smith both of Charlotte, North Carolina, Maddyx Baldwin of Tallahassee, Florida, Jace, Jaxson and Jaiden McLin of Katy Texas; Special Friends: Nora James & Jackie Wilcoxson and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
